     Good morning Dave!
Unfortunately frenchmen decided to make the experiment
SUPERCONDUCTOR after ANTARES mission therefore attitude control
wasn't turned on today.
It will be turned on on June, 22 before Progress M-13 leaving. Pity!
As a compensation nature made fine present for us today.
We saw finally mezosphric clouds, for first time during three months
of our flight.
Yesterday we began the fourth month. Fine show!
I had observed it three orbits running. I have not words to say about
my feelings. These clouds were up in northern Cananda.
Now you know what I was making today.

     Hello Dave!

Thank you for info about FREEDOM.
I read it now with a great interest.
I had read some info about US Space Station
two years ago but now, when I have some
spaceflight's experience, it was much more interesting.
Biographies are interesting for me too because
"we" astronauts of all countries, do the same work.
Unfortunately I know not enough about astronauts from
other countries, especially past. Thank you.

A friend sent this to me from Antarctic

TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY.

We, the staff of the Russian Antarctic stations, are in a
hopeless situation, and we have decided to struggle for economic
and social rights.

We are in a difficult financial situation now. The miserable
salary of Russian polar researchers, working in the rigorous climate
of Antarctica, is hardly enough for our families even to buy food.
We cannot help them. We can send only moral support by telephone.

We have received only ten percent of our authorized salary
per month. The salary of a Station Leader is ten thousand rubles
per month, which is the equivalent of about one hundred U.S. dollars,
and the salaries of other staff members are less than that.

A year ago when this expedition was beginning we couldn't
even imagine the current situation in our country, of progressive
inflation. The members of the Russian Antarctic Expedition tried
to refuse to work under these conditions. The administration
responded by demanding that we compensate them for all our transport
expenses to Antarctica. These demands are physically impossible
for us.

Repeated attempts to direct the attention of the Russian
government and the Russian Committee of Hydrometeorology to the
economic situation of Russian polar researchers have been fruitless,
and information which was given to the Russian mass media has not
been published.

We have therefore stopped sending scientific information
to Moscow and Leningrad. We are very sorry, but as you see, it is
the only way to get attention from the Russian government, which
does not support Antarctic researchers financially. We are still
collecting the data but are not releasing it.

We are asking for help. Please send this declaration to
the National Science Foundation, the President of the Scientific
Committee for Antarctic Research, the World Meteorological
Organization, the world press, and the international community.
We cannot do it ourselves. We do not have the money to use
satellite communication channels.

This action was agreed upon by the staff of Vostok,
Mirnyy, Molodezhnaya, Novolazarevskaya, and Bellingshausen Stations.

[Statement delivered by radio on 24 May 1992 to the U.S. Amundsen-
Scott Station at South Pole, from Dr. Vladimir Nazarov, Leader
of Vostok Station.]

Dave please send this up to our space craft Mir

Today I had QSO with Sergej U5MIR and Alexandr U4MIR.
They have now a good rest in Kislowodsk (North Kaukasus).
Their health is good.

They cheer all Amateur Radio around the World and say:
"Thank you for help and supply during our space flight".

It was 31 years ago the first Earth's man Yuri Gagarin has been launched
from Baikonur into Space. Neil Armstrong, the first man on the Moon,
has told about him:

"He has called all of us in space.
This event is the great achievement of the humanity."

The crew of the space station MIR congratulates you in this day.
