Request for humanitarian assistance:
On 29 April 1991, a great tragady took place in Georgia.
A strong earthquake hit in 6 regions of Georgia.
It was entailed with heavy human tolls and structual damage.
As of 2 May 1991 we know the following:
-45 to 95% of dwellings and public buildings, depending on the
area, have been destroyed.
-160,000 people are homeless.
-300,000 people are victims of this erthquake.
-200 died and many are seriously injured.
Because of the hard economic situation obvserved in Georgia, the
Republic is in great need of disaster relief.
Needed is Medicine, Medical equipment, both large and small tents,
and transportation equipment, HF communications equipment (220VAC)
and 10M walkie-talkies with chargers or P/S for 220V.
We make a request to all of you for humanitarien assistance and
all feasable help.

effected area is by ham radio operators which have come from all
over the Soviet Union to assist and are operating on Pri. 14.275,
Soviet int. 14.992, 7090, and
3600.5.. IARN is activly passing
Red Cross traffic to CCIR and operating 14.275. We also check
in on the MAR net 14.332 at 0645Z.

Please also have patience: no QSO comfirmattion can be made before current crew will be back on the Earth (the expected month is May). All QSL's for previous U-MIR activity has been filled and sent before March last year. This aplies only for those who sent QSL to U-MIR. They were only some 25 % of logged contacts.
